Grating and Steel Structures

What is Grating ?

In the metals industry, “grating” can refer to several different types of metal products. Each type has its own set of unique properties that make it more (or less) ideal given the individual application. For example, street drains will use a form of bar grating, while walkways typically require a safer form of expanded grating or grip strut. Regardless of its individual application, metal grating as a whole allows for proper drainage, ventilation, and safety measures across a variety of industries.

Steel Grating

The most common use of grating is this type, which can be made without any restrictions. All grating specifications of this company are in accordance with the following standards:

ANSI/NAAMM MBG531 ANSI/NAAMM MBG532 DIN24531

electroforged grating

Electroforged Steel Gratings are made using the electroforging process. In this process, the sqaure twisted rods (Cross Members) are fused into the main load bearing members at using a special welding machine at very high current and tonnage. The Cross Members are properly set-in the Load Members such that it projects out of the grating top member by only a little more than 1 mm. This improves the slip resistance during walking. Electroforged Grating Panels are generally manufactured to 6000 mm lengths.

Metal Stairs

Pacific Stair Corporation's 600 Series Grating Stair System is commonly used in mechanical areas such as machine rooms, as well as exterior locations such as roof stairs. Bar Grating stairs provide a slip-resistant walking surface. Our standard design includes checker plate nosing. For an added cost, riser closure plates can be added to block the gap between steps.

Stainless steel grating

Stainless steel grating is regarded as industrial grade bar grating, which is extremely strong, durable and corrosive resistant for all load bearing applications and is primarily used for pedestrian and light vehicle traffic.
